Cultural and Historical City Tour around Manaus
Breakfast at the hotel. In the afternoon, we will start the city tour around Manaus. We will visit its most important attractions such as the Municipal Market, where we will enjoy the day of the Amazonian people; Heliodoro Balbi Square (Police Square), Rio Negro Palace, learning about some of Manaus history; Amazon Theatre, symbol of the height of the rubber boom.
The Amazon Theatre was opened on December 31, 1896, being the most important work built at the peak of the rubber boom and the most important cultural and artistic heritage. This building works as an opera house, where people can enjoy local artistic attractions, both national and international. We will also visit the Republic Square, and so learn about the architectonic history of buildings and monuments.
Rio Negro Palace was the residence of a rich salesman up to 1917, when it became the Amazon Government quarters up to 1996. Today exhibitions and chamber recitals take place there.
Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market was built on the shore of Negro River with a clear art nouveau style and opened in 1882. The architecture of the building can be compared to Las Hales market, in Paris, which has already disappeared. Nowadays it is a shopping center of local products. |

On its banks the river is surrounded by thick vegetation, covered by a deep forest. If we are lucky, we will see river dolphins, and also a great diversity of exotic birds.
The spectacular view will be framed against stunning forest and trees. Before sunset, we will sail on canoes to get closer to the local life.
|
 |

We will start with two morning trips, in which we will sail on the yacht skirting the thick forest, watching the banks in quest of wildlife. Characteristics of the ship and its itinerary |
Tucano Yacht started its activities in 1997. The programs are very intensive. In this program, we will visit areas not visited by other groups. The program is very active with many excursions off the yacht everyday. Every morning we will walk around the forest. This activity does not present difficulties for elderly people, since the groups are divided according to the passengers' age.
Each group includes a Portuguese-spoken guide and a bilingual guide. A maximum of 18 people are allowed on the cruise. The advantage of being small groups is that each passenger spends more time with the guide.
Tucano Yacht is one of the most comfortable expedition ships in the Amazonia. The cabins have private bathrooms and air conditioner. The vessel has a very fine style, with wood and shiny chromium-plated fittings.
These guides are the best ones in the Amazonia. They are bilingual qualified naturalists, and with their experience they uncover the most stunning mysteries of the Amazon forest wildlife.
This is a cruise expedition, going deep into the virgin forest, where we will watch the Amazon wildlife in detail and with a scientific background since the guides are experts on the subject.
The trip starts in the city of Manaus, Brazil, where we will sail on the MOTOR YACHT TUCANO for eight days, along Negro River day and night. We will enjoy many walks to see the flora and fauna of the wildest region in the world.
The trip on the Yacht Tucano is full of activities; accompanied by naturalist guides, we will go deep into the forest to fully explore it. Besides the walks, we may sail on motor canoes along the small streams of the main river. We will also swim in desolate crystalline water beaches. There we can hear the song of exotic birds.
At night, we will watch nocturnal animals, mainly alligators.
We will start sailing towards the northwest of Negro River as far as possible along the Jauaperi River, 200 miles away from Manaus. We will sail along some tributaries where the forest remains wild and intact. We will visit many diverse habitats in the forest and watch the wide variety of wildlife.
On our last journey, we will get to the confluence of the two largest rivers in the world: Amazon and Negro Rivers. The clear waters of the Amazon River do not mix with the dark waters of Negro River right away, but flow for several miles parallel with each other.
We will visit the Lake Janauari Ecological Park, which is in the delta where these two rivers are separated. On the expedition, we will explore the most primitive regions of the forests in all the Amazonia. Tucano Yacht is the only riverboat which can explore deeply the biggest Amazon reserve: the Central Amazon Ecological Corredor.
