| CLASSIC ANTARCTICA ON AIR-CRUISE |
|
| The First Air-Cruise to the Antarctic |
|
We will fly over the rough and impressive Drake Sea and the famous Cape Horn in a unique experience that will lead us to the coldest and most inhospitable continent in the world: Antarctica. We will set out from Punta Arenas City heading for Saint George Island (scientific base of several countries) to get to the continent, sailing along the Antarctic Peninsula on Gregory Mikheev ship and saving the first days of oceanic navigation that every ship via the Antarctic should do when crossing the stormy waters of the Drake Passage. |
|
 |
Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina
Arrival at Punta Arenas and transfer to the hotel. During the afternoon, some instructions related to the expedition should be given (regulations to be considered in the Antarctica/embarkation and disembarkation procedures). At night, a welcome dinner will be offered. |
 |
Ushuaia
On the second day, we will start the Antarctic voyage. We will fly from Punta Arenas to Frei Base in King George Island (South Shetland Islands archipelago) reaching destination in less than 2 hours. Ashore, we will visit the surroundings of the Chilean Frei Base and the Russian Bellingshausen Base. We will gather at the shore of Fildes Bay to get on M/V Grigoriv Mikheev. |

|
South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula, Livingston Island, Lockrov Port, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Cuverville Island and Deception Island
The sea voyage covers the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, crossing fiords and stunning ice floes accompanied by seabirds, penguins, seals and whales.
During these days, we can visit Livingston Island, Lockrov Port, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Cuverville Island and Deception Island, among others. During the expedition, we will get on Zodiac boats and do daily landings, and receive informative talks by professionals.
|
|
King George Island and Punta Arenas
We will return by Zodiac boats to King George Island, where we will land at Frei Base to be transferred to the airport, and take a return flight to the Chilean city of Punta Arenas. Once in Punta Arenas, services are concluded. Passengers who keep travelling within the city will be taken to the corresponding hotel.
|
|
NOTE: Once the trip has ended, passengers will be transferred free of charge within Punta Arenas city. |

Weight Allowed in Flights
In flights from and to the Antarctic, the maximum weight allowed per person is 20kg including hand luggage. All extra luggage may be retained and put under custody in Punta Arenas.
Itinerary
The flight schedule as well as the navigation itinerary through Antarctica can be modified according to the prevailing weather conditions in the White Continent. Weather variations are very unpredictable, and safety is always a priority in all the Antarctic voyages. The shipping company reserves the right to alter the navigation rack with no previous enquiry owing to weather mishaps or any other circumstances beyond their control. In the event that the flight from and to the Antarctic cannot depart due to weather conditions, either at the departure and/or destination point, the company will develop a Contingency Plan set out for each trip.
Conditions
To make a 120-day reservation effective before the trip departure date, a USD 1,500 deposit per person should be done. If the total trip balance is lower than USD 5,000, the deposit amount will be lower: USD 750 per person. The final trip balance should be paid at least 120 days before the beginning of the program. If payment deadline is not respected, the company reserves the right to sell the reservation to those passengers in the waiting list. If the reservation is requested within 120 days of the trip departure, the full trip balance should be paid.
The Participation Form should be duly completed and signed by the passenger to be handed to the air-shipping company 120 days before the departure date scheduled. To be authorized, this form should be signed by a registered physician (with his/her signature and seal).
The full or partial reservation (deposit) payment involves the consent of all the hiring conditions.
Cancellations
Once the deposit has been paid, there is a 120 day period prior to the departure of the cruise chosen to cancel the pending balance. Should there be no cancellation, there will be an automatic release of the reservation, which may be sold to any other passenger.
The cancellations should be informed in writing by each passenger. They will result in the following penalties: If cancellation is prior to 120 days of the departure date: the amount paid up to then will be refunded, except 50% of the deposit. If cancellation is between 120 days and up to 60 days before the departure date: the passenger will receive a 70% refund of the trip total cost (per person). If cancellation occurs between 60 days and up to 30 days prior to the cruise departure: the passenger will receive a 40% refund of the trip total cost (per person). If cancellation occurs after 30 days prior to the cruise departure: there will be no refund. If payments are overdue, the air shipping company reserves the right to cancel the reservation at once.
The air-shipping company reserves the right to cancel any expedition or program before the departure date stipulated for any reason whatsoever. In the event that the company cancels any expedition, the amount paid up to then will be refunded with no deductions.
The air-shipping company reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to reschedule any departure or return date of any program in the Antarctic, according to weather conditions and without prior notice.
The air-shipping company reserves the right (at its sole discretion) to modify any part of the navigation itinerary notifying to passengers in advance, in case of adverse weather conditions. Such rescheduling does not mean a program cancellation. The staff of the company will make all possible efforts to prevent these changes and consequently to carry out the expedition plans.
We recommend you to take out a travel cancellation or interruption insurance coverage, as a protection in case of a last-minute emergency that forces passengers to cancel or abandon an expedition or program while in progress or even before starting the trip.
