ANTARCTIC CRUISES
Southern Shetland, South Georgia, Falklands Islands & Antarctic Peninsula
In general these are not luxury cruises; most of them are expedition ships which set out from the port of Ushuaia in the island of Tierra del Fuego. But there are other cruises that leave from Punta Arenas, Chile, the Air Cruise; or in Montevideo, Uruguay, the cruise that set out from the South Georgia Islands. The ships sailing towards Antarctica follow different routes.

The typical cruises offer the classical trip to the Antarctic Peninsula, like the MV Ushuaia, Russian Icebreakers or Antarctic Dream, among others. In general the itineraries of these expedition cruises are very similar. The MV Ushuaia has a big advantage over the other ships since it offers good prices and the crew is bilingual, while aboard the MV Orlova, as on all the Russian icebreakers, the crew speaks just English.

The Antarctic Dream is a more luxurious ship, and so prices are higher than the rest. It will all depend on how much one wants to spend on this trip to the white continent. These classical tours to Antarctica lasts about 12, 11 or 10 days.

If we want to do something different or get to know more in detail the surrounding areas in Antarctica, there are some programs to do that include traveling to the Peninsula, landing at the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Islands and Orkney Islands. We can do another itinerary directly to the Georgia Islands and enjoy an exclusively adventure journey, since we could sky on the islands or explore them from the sea.

The Air Cruise is another new option. Here we would travel at least 7 days overflying from Punta Arenas to King George Islands in the Archipelago of the South Shetland Islands and, from there, sail on ship toward the Peninsula, where we would fly over Cape Horn and Drake’s Sea. In other trips to Antarctica, Weddell Sea is the first option, from where we would get to Paradise Bay, covering a longer route than in the classical program.

Another option is to go to the Antarctic Circle sailing along a 12-day route getting closer to Detaille Island. Finally we will enjoy a full trip to Antarctica. This is a 31-day itinerary from Ushuaia to the Antarctic Peninsula, and then heading towards the North to sail along the South Atlantic Ocean up to Ascension Island. Then we will have the option to go on sailing to Green Cape, which is the best program offered due to its attractive and very affordable price: South Atlantic Ocean and Antarctica Odyssey
Classic Antarctica on the MV Ushuaia
The most traditional trip to Antarctica is to sail towards the Antarctic Peninsula. MV USHUAIA is an expedition cruise, without luxuries as most of the cruises, but with professionalism in all aspects as regards to technical talks and trips around the Peninsula, with the advantage of having bilingual staff.
Falkland Islands, South Georgia & Antartica
The Antarctica, Falkland and South Georgia Island program is one of the most complete voyages to the Antarctica with these quantity of days, because not only you will visit the Antarctic Peninsula, but also the famous Falklands, South Georgia and South Orcadas Islands which are not visited in the classic program to this continent.
Luxury Antarctic Cruise in the Antarctic Dream
Antarctic Dream is a luxurious expedition cruise with a classical navigation route to the Antarctic Peninsula, going across the Drake Passage towards the Southern Shetland Island Archipelago to reach the largest island: King George. Other attractions are Neko Bay, Decepción Island, Petermann Island, and so on. A highly recommended program despite the high price.
Classic Antarctica on Air-Cruise
The most spectacular air-cruiser to Antarctica flying over the Cape Horn and the Drake Passage to reach King George Island in a two-hour flight. Once in the Southern Shetland Island, we will set sail and go deep into the Antarctic Peninsula. There are very few experiences like this: flying over the surroundings of the White Continent and then sailing on a cruise in a classic itinerary to Antarctica.
Classic Antarctica on the MV Lyubov Orlova
Travelling on the Russian icebreakers with a classical Antarctic program, visiting the Antarctic Peninsula, setting out from Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego Island and leaving behind the Beagle Channel and the stormy Drake Passage to reach the Peninsula. This cruise only has English staff; for that reason, we do not recommend it for Spanish-speaking passengers.
Exclusive South Georgia
The cruise to Antarctica to the South Georgia Islands, is the most active and adventurous of all, very advisable for adventurous people, specially for skiers and explorer souls, by skiing or doing a trekking, this trip is a real dream. We will depart from the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, to go to the South Atlantic Ocean, in journey full of activities, surrounded by petrels, albatrosses and skuas, going through the Antarctic Convergence to the Antarctica the first days of navigation.
Crossing the Antarctic Circle
Crossing the Antarctic Polar Circuit with the aim of reaching the most extreme latitude at the end of the world in a trip full of emotion and adventure is a goal that very few people can achieve. Just a day of the 365 days of the year, the Sun is over the horizon and just another day of the 365 days it is below the horizon; that is so because the Earth rotation axis is tilted 23° 26' 22" with respect to the Earth's orbit around the Sun.
Weddell Sea & Antartic Peninsula
A journey to the Antarctica getting to the Weddell Sea, but first we will visit the South Shetland Islands archipelago in the Welling region, and we have to cross go through the Antarctic Convergence. In our way, we will enjoy of a great variety of flora and fauna, from herbs and moss to Papua and Barbijo penguins and huge petrels.
Emperor Penguins
As the name of this Antarctic trip shows, the main objective of this expedition is The Emperor Penguin. We will come close to the penguin rookeries using helicopters to reach Snow Hill Island. We will walk a well-marked path through a natural garden of eternal ice fields. We will also visit the Antarctic Peninsula, crossing the Iceberg Channel.
Atlantic Odyssey: from Antarctica to Cape Green
This is a very special itinerary because not only covers the Antarctic Peninsula but it also goes over the African coasts, navigating the Atlantic Ocean. The crossing starts in Ushuaia in our first navigation strecht, like the vast majority of the trips to the white continent: the Drake Passage. The beginning of this antarctic route will take us to go through the Antarctic Convergence watching a sky full of petrels and albatrosses.
