The Navimag Route along the Chilean Patagonian Channels

There are four navigation routes of the canals and fiords of Chile that are offered in the Patagonia Austral:
Patagonian fiords - Patagonian canals Southern Route
Patagonian fiords - Patagonian canals Northern
Route San Rafael lagoon
Carretera Austral from Puerto Montt until Puerto Chacabuco or vice versa

The first two programs are called the FIORDS OF PATAGONIA, one of the itineraries takes the PATAGONIAN CANALS by the SOUTHERN ROUTE starting in Puerto Montt and finishing in Puerto Natales and the other, the NORTHERN ROUTE is the inverse starting in Puerto Natales and steered to the Lake District and Port Montt.

Patagonian Canals Southern Route (Port Montt - Port Natales)

During the voyage there are some unique southern landscapes to be seen such as the Gulf of Ancud, the seno of Reloncaví, the Moraleda Canal, the Gulf of Corcovado and the descent of the mountain range to the coast in the Taitao Peninsular. The Southern Route leaves from Puerto Montt taking the Moraleda Canal arriving at the Gulf of Penas on the second day where it is possible to see the humpbacked whales.

On the third day we enter the Messier Canal until we arrive at Angostura Inglesa. We pass by Port Edén and then have a day hard to forget when we are able to see the huge Glacier X1 that has the largest area in South America. Towards the end of the Chilean Fiords Austral (Southern) expedition we pass through the Sarmiento Canal until Angostura White. We finish the voyage by disembarking in the Port of Natales. It is advised to gain the maximum from the trip by visiting the Cuevas del Milodón and the Torres del Paine National Park and take delight in the National Glacier Park seeing the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier, the most imposing glacier, in Calafate. We also suggest trail trekking in El Chaltén.

Patagonian Canals Northern Route (Puerto Natales - Puerto Montt)
This route is very similar to the Southern one and is over four days in the reverse direction leaving Puerto Natales in the northern direction until disembarkation in Puerto Montt. It is a voyage full of marine life, forests and snow covered mountains with a great quantity of glaciers over the whole route. We are accompanied by dolphins and sea lions and rugged mountain coasts. We arrive at Port Eden where we sense the legacy of the aborigines and receive a good feeling of the friendliness of the places and get to understand their customary respect.

San Rafael Lagoon
The itinerary leaves from Puerto Montt to finish at the San Rafael Lagoon. It is a voyage of imposing ice formations and rich in native wildlife. This ecosystem was named as an important Biosphere by UNESCO in 1979.

Carretera Austral
This is the shortest of the Navimag voyages and the duration is dependent upon which port you leave from. From Puerto Montt to Puerto Chacabuco takes three days and in the reverse direction, two days. We can observe the attractions of the San Rafael Lagoon and the great variety of the captivating natural aspects of the XI region of Aysén.

PATAGONIAN FIORDS BY THE NORTHERN
Route from Port Natales to Port Montt in 4 days
This is the itinerary that the Navimag ferries offer in the northern direction from Port Natales until Port Montt in the lake district. We navigate for Angostura White, the Amalia Glacier, Port Edén and later the Angostura Inglesa. We get to know the Messier Canal and Bajo Cotopaxi and towards the end of the voyage we pass the Isle of Inchemó in order to enter the Corcovado Gulf and land at Port Montt.
PATAGONIAN FIORDS BY THE SOUTHERN
Route from Port Montt to Port Natales in 4 days
The voyage in the other direction from Port Montt also takes four days visiting the Morelada Canal, Errázuriz, Costa, Pulluche until the Gulf of Penas. Highlights of the voyage include the Pío XI Glacier, one of the largest in South America, and Port Edén. Our destination is Port Natales with the opportunity to visit the Torres del Paine National Park.
San Rafael Lagoon - 5 Days
Our ferry goes to San Raphael Lagoon, which is correctively called a lake, which we find in the Aysén region in the south of Chile. We follow the Moraleda Canal passing gulfs and inlets to the north. In the eastern direction the limit is the Isthmus of Ofqui and the Taitao Peninsular. The northern ice fields are on the south of the Lagoon and their formation is a consequence of the recession of the San Raphael Glacier and for this reason it is called post-glacier.
Southern Route (Carretera Austral)
The perfect alternative to get to know the Carretera Austral in just three days is to join the ferry with your vehicle at Puerto Montt and disembark at Chacabuco. This voyage combines some awesome landscapes with the infinite beauty of the canals, lagoons, fiords, islands etc.
