We take a 3hr journey from Salta to Cafayate, an enchanting town set amongst the green mountains and curious geological formations of different colours. It has an ideal climate that promotes these landscapes and the exquisite Cafayate wines. On arrival we book into the Cafayate Wine Resort Hotel that has impacting views of the mountains and the vineyards. Here it is possible to take walks or a bicycle to get to know the surroundings.
We eat in the hotel. The combination of the people, the local foods such as cheeses and dulces, the landscapes and the wines make this one of the most visited and respected localities of Salta. This is complemented by characteristic architecture, a plaza full of colourful flowers, quiet streets and museums that make this city so graceful and pretty.

Breakfast in the hotel. We take a four hour journey of approximately 300kms to Molinos during which we pass some beautiful landscapes and towns such as San Carlos, one of the oldest towns of the Province that still conserves its colonial houses mostly built of clay and brick and its parched streets.
Another is the valley town of Angastaco next to the river of the same name. It is has an attractive contrast between the green of the crops and the sandy soil of the valleys. We arrive at Molinos, a little town founded in the middle of the 17th century in the Calchaquí valleys. Its streets and houses lie between the attractively coloured hills and mountains which contain reserves of vicuñas, reared for their wool, and is ideal for horseriding or walking. We book into the Haciendo de Molinos hotel where we have included lunch.
In the afternoon, after a rest, we make a visit to the Estancia Colomé some 20kms from Molinos. Apart from being a vineyard, it is a luxury hotel noted for its peacefulness. Here we tour the vineyard and taste some of its wines. The climate here is very dry with little rain during the summers which makes it an ideal microclimate for cultivation and production of very tasteful wines. We can also visit the James Turrel Art Museum. We then return to the hotel.

We follow our route to Cachi observing imposing mountains and fissures surrounded by intense green contrasting against the blue sky that makes it a beautiful journey. On arrival we have lunch at the vineyard of Alberto Durand that is situated at 2490 metres that sits in the microclimate produced by the Cachi valley.
