Argentinian Explorer offers you mixed trekking by travelling around Patagonia and the Northwest in the very same program. Those mixed programs are very completed hiking which includes both regions in the two countries, Argentina as well as Chile, from the Southern Patagonia to the Northwest.

In the Southern Patagonia, trekking are made around Calafate and El Chaltén in Los Glaciares National Park, Tierra del Fuego National Park in Ushuaia and, close to Puerto Natales, Chile, Torres del Paine National Park. In the Northwest, trekking are made on the Quebrada de Humahuaca, la Puna and the Atacama´s Desert.

Mixed Trekking (Patagonia+Northwest)

There are 3 different mixed trekking:

Argentina Chile Trek in 22 days - Paine region (light)
Argentina Chile Trek in 21 days - Atacama region (light)
Argentina Chile Trek in 21 days - Humahuaca region (intense)

The trekking are made around the two countries and the two regions, Patagonia and the Northwest, the main difference is that one of them highlights Torres del Paine National Park area in the Southern Patagonia, while the other intensifies Atacama´s Desert area in the Altiplano Andino and, on the other hand, Argentina Chile Trek in 21 days - Humahuaca region, explores better the Quebrada de Humahuaca region. These trekking do not have the same intensity: that one of 22 days - Paine region and the 21 days - Atacama region are light trekking, while the other one of 21 days - Humahuaca region is an intense program.

The Argentinian & Chilean trekking.

Argentina Chile Trek in 22 days - Paine region
This trekking tours El Calafate and El Chaltén area, walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier and the Cerro Fitz Roy region in Los Glaciares National Park. Then, the trekking is made in Torres del Paine National Park area. The itinerary ends in the North by walking in the Atacama´s Desert, la Puna and the Quebrada de Humahuaca in the north of Argentina.

The trekking around Torres del Paine is the most highlight of all the destinations. It is an intermediate trekking, to which any person with good physical conditions can have access, it does not have many requirements, neither risk ways, it is very accessible. Those are made between October and April, with programmed exits.

We start by arriving to El Calafate and, from there, we will move to El Chaltén, so we can start this trekking. During the first stage, which are 3 days, we will visit the Cerro Fitz Roy area. We will know Laguna Capri, Laguna de los Tres (Cerro Fitz Roy base), Valle de las Lagunas Madre e Hija, Laguna and Cerro Torre, besides we can make a trekking to Cerro Torre Glacier.

The second route starts in El Calafate to walk around the Canal de los Témpanos, while we can appreciate the constant breaks of the frontal walls of the glacier. We will go along Torres del Paine for the third walking, the one that lasts most, in 4 days. We will make a trekking by the classical way to the "Torres", we will navigate the Pehoé Lake to get to Valle del Francés. Then, we will visit the Valle del Lago Grey and the Grey Glacier. Our trip follows to the north, we will go to Punta Arenas to take a flight to Calama, in the North of Chile.

In this fourth stage, we will walk the Atacama´s Desert. We will discover the Altiplanicas Lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques located over 4000 metres over the level of the sea and the Tatio Geyser. Soon, we will go to Argentina through the Paso de Jama to visit Salinas Grandes, Cerro de los Siete Colores in Purmamarca, the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Iruya, a village in the middle of the mountains, apart from walking over the quebradas and yungas such as the Quebrada de las Señoritas or the sub-tropical jungle of the Yungas. The trekking ends in Salta.

Argentina Chile Trek in 21 days - Atacama region
This program is very similar to Argentina Chile Trek in 22 days - Paine region, because it visits almost the same landscapes, but the difference is on the vast majority of walking by the Chilean North, San Pedro de Atacama area, precisely. In spite of being similar to the other trekking, different places are toured, in this case, it starts in El Calafate and then, we go to El Chaltén and we will visit places such as the Valle and Cerro Torre and Laguna Capri, but also it is toured Loma del Pliegue Tumbado.

In Torres del Paine, the trekking varies because it follows to Salto Grande of the río Paine, the Nordenskjöld lake, Grey Glacier and lake. We will navigate going around the Seno Última Esperanza Fjord to get to the Glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano to make a trekking. We will continue our trip to the north making the conexion Punta Arenas - Calama to come into the Atacama´s Desert.

This itinerary underlines this area, because, apart from walking by the Altiplánicas Lagoons and visiting the Tatio Geyser, we will go to the Valle de la Luna, which is surrounded by the Salt Mountain Chain. In the north of Argentina, the trekking is almost similar to the trip described on the top.

Argentina Chile Trek in 21 days - Humahuaca region
Of the three programs, this one is the most complicated to do, as we qualified like an intense trekking, because the person has to be very well prepared and trained. The main difference is that it starts in the north of Chile, in San Pedro de Atacama, discovering their salares and geysers, to cross then to Argentina so we can walk through the Quebrada de Humahuaca, getting to Iruya. The main attractions are the Salar Grande, trekking to the Valle San Bartolo, trekking by Grande and Machuca river.

Humahuaca brings out the Salinas Grandes, getting to Tilcara. Then Iruya, a village in the mountains, with its steep image over the valley, the Abra del Colorado until Chiyayoc village. After that, we will follow to the Valle del río Trancas to get to Rodeo Colorado over 3000 metres. Later, we will take a flight to the Patagonia and we will make the tracks to Cerro Fitz Roy and

Torre by using snowshoes and we will end in the Perito Moreno Glacier. This trekking does not includes the Torres del Paine National Park. It is made the other way round than the other routes, from April to October, because we make it from the early Autumn, all the winter, to mid Springtime.
